Attacks on oil tankers and energy infrastructure in Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Russia have disrupted the global supply of diesel, driving fuel prices higher. According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, energy prices rose 20.4% in September, the largest increase since May, contributing significantly to headline inflation. Higher diesel costs are expected to raise transportation expenses for food, threatening the recent stabilization of grocery bills for US households. The situation adds new price pressure after households had received some relief from tariffs earlier in the year.
