Engineers at Cursor, an AI coding startup being acquired by SpaceX, raised concerns in late July that internal testing of SpaceX's AI unit's Grok Bot may have transmitted confidential data to SpaceX's AI unit. The data potentially included sensitive information about Cursor's customers, suppliers, and business partners. A Cursor lawyer warned that if it became known that the data was used for training, it could cause a significant trust problem, according to internal communications reviewed by The Information. The investigation occurred in the weeks before SpaceX's AI unit introduced Grok Bot in August.
