Cardoso: Nigeria to replicate remittance reforms to diversify FX earnings

Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Olayemi Cardoso stated that Nigeria will replicate the reforms that increased diaspora remittances to diversify its foreign exchange earnings and reduce reliance on crude oil exports. He made the remarks during a debate on the global economy at the IMF/World Bank Annual Meetings in Bangkok, Thailand. Cardoso also emphasized that Nigeria must lead Africa's investment drive through reforms. He spoke alongside IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and finance officials from Greece, Thailand, and Argentina.
