The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has issued a warning to Nigerians about seven online offences that can lead to criminal prosecution. These include unauthorised access to private accounts, online impersonation, cyberbullying, spreading false information, sharing intimate images without consent, and facilitating financial fraud. Disu urged citizens to be cautious online, verify information before sharing, and avoid lending bank accounts or SIM cards for suspicious transactions. He spoke in Abuja at the 2026 Cybersecurity Awareness Campaign of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre.
