The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Sokoto Zone, has condemned the arrest and arraignment of Dr. Kurfi of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, describing it as intimidation of academics by the Katsina State Government. The Zonal Chairman, Professor Abubakar Sabo Yabo, said Dr. Kurfi was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) allegedly on the instruction of the Katsina State Government over his comments on the security situation in the state. Yabo said the development raises questions about the misplacement of government priorities and showcases a tendency to instil fear rather than provide solutions to pressing challenges.
