Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Olayemi Cardoso, spoke at an International Monetary Fund seminar in Bangkok on Thursday. He emphasized that credible monetary policy relies on informed committee deliberations, independent perspectives, and clear communication to financial markets and the public. Cardoso detailed how the CBN has strengthened these practices within its Monetary Policy Committee, drawing on Nigeria's experience with economic reforms and restoring confidence in monetary policymaking. The seminar, titled 'How Central Banks Decide: Committee Decision-Making and Communication in an Era of Uncertainty,' also featured Martin Schlegel of the Swiss National Bank and Emmanuel Moulin of the Banque de France, and was moderated by IMF First Deputy Managing Director Dan Katz.
