At the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday, political tensions over the 2027 elections were evident. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma exchanged veiled jabs that appeared to reveal competing interests within the camp supporting President Bola Tinubu's re-election. Although none of the three mentioned the others by name, the timing and substance of their remarks carried particular significance. This comes amid recent disagreements over campaign strategy and the battle for the Senate presidency after the 2027 elections. Wike, a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party but a supporter of Tinubu's re-election, challenged APC governors to prove their loyalty by delivering electoral victories.
