The Abia State Eye Health Management Bureau conducted free eye screenings for drivers and passengers at the Prof. Nnenna Oti Bus Terminal in Umuahia to mark the 2026 World Sight Day. The campaign, themed "Safe Eyes, Safe Roads, Safe Lives," aimed to prevent avoidable blindness and promote road safety by addressing poor eyesight among motorists. Dr Betty Emeka Obasi, Administrator of the Bureau, explained that the motor park was chosen because thousands of commuters pass through daily, making it an ideal location to reach the public. She encouraged motorists to take advantage of the free screening to ascertain their eye condition.
