An explosion involving a gas pipeline occurred in Aleto community, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, on Thursday. The pipeline, reportedly belonging to NNPC Ltd., erupted in flames shortly after 2pm. Many people sustained injuries and buildings were damaged; injured residents were taken to hospitals. No fatalities had been confirmed, and the fire was still raging. The Youths and Environmental Advocacy Centre confirmed the incident and deployed volunteers to assist with rescue efforts.
