Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has said the party would consider all available options, including restoring petrol subsidy, to reduce fuel prices if elected in the 2027 general election. Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, made the statement during an interview on Channels Television's Politics Today on Thursday. He expressed concern over the economic impact of the subsidy removal announced by President Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023, which led to sharp increases in fuel prices and higher transportation and living costs. Kwankwaso argued that Nigerians were yet to recover from the policy's economic consequences and that energy costs remained too high.
