Use *315# to check phones before buying, NCC tells Nigerians

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has advised Nigerians to verify mobile phones before purchase using the code *315# or the commission's website device checker. The check confirms whether a phone has received type approval and is verified for use on Nigerian networks. According to Eduyemi Ogoh, NCC's Director of Technical Standards and Network Integrity, this is especially important for second-hand or imported devices. He noted that 231 million devices in use before October 7 had already been verified.
