Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, has called on the Church to challenge government failures, defend vulnerable Nigerians and resist political capture. Speaking at CAN's 50th anniversary celebration in Abuja, he said the Church must adopt a more courageous, evidence-based and constructive approach to national affairs while holding those in power accountable. In his homily themed "CAN at 50: A Prophetic Voice of Hope," he stressed that the Church must remain independent and committed to speaking for Nigerians whose voices are often ignored. The event also honoured former leaders including Yakubu Gowon, Olusegun Obasanjo and Yemi Osinbajo, while the First Lady urged Christians to sustain unity.
