Israeli settlers attacked a convoy of European diplomats and beat a visiting French mayor in the West Bank during the Palestinian olive harvest, according to witnesses and diplomats. Bernard Baudoux, the 78-year-old mayor of Aulnoye-Aymeries, said masked settlers yelled defamatory comments about France, kicked him, and hit him with iron bars. He was joined by top French and Belgian representatives in Jerusalem and Polish diplomats. Baudoux suggested that the settlers' behavior indicated tolerance from the Israeli government.
