The Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit (Task Force) has detained a dismissed operative over alleged impersonation and extortion of motorists and traders. The Task Force chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, announced the detention in a statement issued on Sunday in Lagos by the agency's spokesperson, Abdulraheem Gbadeyan. According to the statement, the suspect was apprehended at Oshodi bus-stop after a viral video of his arrest circulated. Akerele said the former paramilitary operative had been dismissed several months earlier over alleged misconduct, including theft, use of a fake identity card, extortion and indiscipline, and had continued to pose as a serving official; operatives who approached him for questioning reported that he resisted arrest before being apprehended through tactical coordination and minimal force.
