Gunmen on Saturday night shot Alhaji Yakubu, the chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Langai Ward of Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State. Yakubu survived the attack but sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. The Plateau State Chairman of MACBAN, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, confirmed the incident and said the association was investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack and those responsible. The shooting has raised fresh concerns over security in Mangu, an area that has experienced recurring violence, cattle rustling, destruction of farmlands and reprisal attacks amid tensions between farming and herding communities.
