The Lagos State Government has warned that construction sites and developers dumping building materials on public roads and drainage channels will face shutdowns and heavy penalties. Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources Tokunbo Wahab issued the warning on Sunday following a routine inspection of environmental projects across Lagos Island, where officials found construction sites allegedly obstructing public roads and waterways. Wahab stated that the government would no longer tolerate violations undermining environmental regulations and contributing to urban flooding, adding that affected sites would be stopped and made to pay penalties.
