Presidency Dismisses Gov Makinde’s Claim That FG is Holding Back N250bn NLNG Dividend Due Each State

The Presidency has dismissed as false claims by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State that the federal government was withholding N250 billion in dividends accruing to each of the 36 states from the Nigerian Liquified and Natural Gas (NLNG). Makinde had made the claim on Friday at the 2027 Budget Stakeholders' Consultative Engagement held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, saying the funds would not be released until after the 2027 elections. The Presidency described the claim as basically illogical and lacking economic reality, adding that a supposed single payout exceeds the company's entire 25 years of lifetime distribution to the government purse.
