The police in Cross River State have arrested a 26-year-old man, Emmanuel Adoga, over alleged rape and armed robbery in Ogoja Local Government Area. The command said the arrest followed a petition submitted on October 9 by the father of a 22-year-old woman, alleging that the suspect threatened her with a dangerous object, sexually assaulted her and forcibly took her Infinix Smart 7 mobile phone. The suspect was also accused of demanding an additional N15,000 from the woman. Police Public Relations Officer ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata said Adoga had been arrested and the stolen phone recovered, adding that investigators had visited the scene and obtained photographic and electronic evidence.
