A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja dismissed a N120 million fundamental rights suit filed by former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai against the Department of State Services and three other respondents. The court ruled that the suit lacked merit and substance, and awarded N200,000 in costs to each of the respondents, to be paid by the former governor. The other respondents in the case were the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission. El-Rufai, who has been in the custody of security operatives for months, had argued that his rights were violated.
