The Rivers State House of Assembly has reversed its decision to declare the seats of three lawmakers loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara vacant. The seats of Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo, Hon. Sokari Goodboy Sokari, and Hon. Orubienimigha Timothy were declared vacant on October 15, 2025, after they failed to attend legislative sittings following the lifting of their suspension. The reversal followed separate letters dated October 16, 2026, from the lawmakers appealing to the House to reconsider its position, which were read by Speaker Hon. Martin Amaewhule during plenary on Monday. The development signals renewed reconciliation efforts between Governor Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
