The Institute for Dietetics in Nigeria (IDN) has called on the National Assembly to reject a bill seeking to establish the Nutritionists Registration Council of Nigeria. The institute warned that the proposed legislation, identified as HB 2659, could create competing regulatory authorities, weaken professional standards, and expose Nigerians to inadequately trained practitioners. It noted that the bill would substantially overlap with the Dietitians Council of Nigeria (Establishment) Bill, 2022, designated HB 515. The IDN urged the House of Representatives to discontinue consideration of HB 2659 and asked the Federal Government and National Assembly to conclude the legislative process for establishing the Dietitians Council of Nigeria.
