The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) announced the discovery of a suspected counterfeit alcoholic drinks factory at No. 25 Omenazu Street in Aba, Abia State. According to the agency, the facility was uncovered following credible intelligence about suspected illegal production activities. NAFDAC stated that its officials found the facility operating under unhygienic conditions, with equipment and materials recovered from the site estimated to be worth more than ₦500 million. The suspected operator reportedly fled when the enforcement team arrived, abandoning a vehicle containing materials bearing the names of Sir Edwards Scotch Whisky and Scottish Hills Whisky.
