Fresh controversies have emerged over the redeployment of key personnel of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general elections. Mrs Oluyemi Titilayo Adeyemi-Showunmi, formerly Administrative Secretary of INEC's Lagos State office, has been redeployed as Director of Electoral Operations; she is the wife of Segun Showunmi, a spokesman for the Tinubu/Shettima 2027 Presidential Campaign Council. Prof. Mustapha Aliu, identified as an elder brother of Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu, has been nominated as an INEC commissioner. Isah Magaji Gummi, who previously headed the Electoral Operations Department, was redeployed to the Voter Registry Department.
