The Rivers State House of Assembly has rescinded its decision to declare the seats of three lawmakers loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara vacant, following a peace deal brokered by the governor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, and the lawmakers. The three lawmakers—Timothy Oruibienimigha, Victor Oko Jumbo, and Sokari Goodboy Sokari—representing Opobo/Nkoro, Bonny, and Ahoada West constituencies respectively, sent letters of appeal to the Speaker, Martin Chike Amaewhule. During its 68th Legislative Sitting on Monday, the House rescinded its earlier decision after the lawmakers apologized, claiming they failed to resume sitting because they were not informed that their suspension had been lifted.
