Kehinde Bamigbetan, Special Adviser to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, has disputed a report in The Telegraph concerning former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair's role in advising Nigeria amid a mining licence dispute. Bamigbetan said the companies involved, Jupiter, Basin Mining Limited and Range Mining Limited, lost their licences for failing to pay statutory annual service fees, with Basin Mining owing N1.223 billion. He added that the Nigerian Mining Cadastre Office issued several notices before revocation and that legal proceedings to recover the outstanding amounts are underway.
