Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, has renewed calls for accountability over the October 2020 Lekki shooting, asking who ordered the violence against protesters six years on. In a post on his X account, he accused the All Progressives Congress of failing to provide answers over the shooting and give young Nigerians a better future. He also criticised President Bola Tinubu's response to the incident, recalling remarks the president made in October 2020 questioning the presence and conduct of protesters who suffered casualties.
